Tested latest version: stable, tiny, small, good looking as it was always ! Now, i were able to mark and ascii data, and hex data, everything really clean and tasty. There is also tasty search on both ascii and hex data, really helpful. Also keys pgup/down/home/end works too, which is good thing as well.

I have only one request there : ability to change the values directly by clicking on them (like it done in modern hexviewers), but that not "viewer" then, but editor :)

Also probabaly worth to have automatic "unmark" of the selected text once user hit ctrl+c (so to see the feadback that think is marked).

@Javier
I was about to ask for "mark/select text" as well, but then i realize this is can be not that trivial : you need to find a good way to do a marking , or , even make it as 3 different way : copy only hex part, copy only ascii part, or copy both parts. Then, marking can be and "full one", and "by columns", which also add quite on top of it. The good marking functionality is really good thing, but no other amiga software even today implement proper marking of columns.. So, at least just usuall marking with possible to mark or only hex, or only asci , or both, can be reallyt handy. Just i imagine the work to do for :)

BTW when iconifying, the icon doesn't show on "next available position on WB)

struct DiskObject *iconify = NULL;
// Reset icon X/Y positions so it iconifies properly on Workbench
if( (iconify=GetIconTags(PROGNAME, ICONGETA_FailIfUnavailable,FALSE, TAG_END)) )
{
iconify->do_CurrentX = NO_ICON_POSITION;
iconify->do_CurrentY = NO_ICON_POSITION;
}

Wow, all sounds cool ! If you need a beta-tester for it, then i will be happyly help you out with tests and ideas (if need it, i am sure you have many already:) ). Currently i use zaphod, which i improve a little bit as it opensourced, but it still can't search for hex data, but only for ascii, and it just looks dated. While your one looks just like part of the OS! I especially love the choose of the background and the speed of scrolling when you scroll via scrollbar. So , if you need any beta-tester/etc help, i will gladly help you out , just write me back at kas1e@yandex.ru, or i can write you on the mail on your site if you wish :) Thanks!

Hey Kas1e. Thanks for your feedback. It means a lot. I really wanted to make something that looks the part and behaves as a native application as well as being useful.

Yes, I did forget to strip out the debug and will do this on the fix I will upload in the next few days. There are a couple of small bug fixes but not yet the scroll bar. I am sure I have done something silly there but haven't yet nailed it. It is definitely in line to be fixed.

I most definitely will be improving on it and making a complimentary hex editor as well. Slowly, I will be adding all those nice extra features such as reading memory and disk blocks, searching, 64 bit etc. If you have any other wishes, please let me know.

I am not sure why you cannot make the window bigger. You should always be able to make it vertically bigger, but I restricted horizontal resize for the first version. That will change soon.

I intend to have a separate editor and viewer to maximise memory use for each of the types. This allows very large files to be viewed quickly with minimal overhead.

Howdy ! Just found this hexviewer, and was very pleasant of how it looks like visually: indeed fully native and aiss make it looks cool. Through, have some questions : is it planned to improve it ? What i mean is:

1). Mouse wheel do not works as expected : i can't scroll by mouse wheel when the pointer under the whole area of programm (like in other hex editors), i can only scroll when i put mouse pointer exactly over the scollbar. Imho if this behaviour will be changed, that will make it more usable.

2). I can't resize the window as i wish not only to be less, but also can't make it bigger. Can it be also customizable by configs later ?

3). Functions "search" and "edit" surely missing, as well as ability to edit :)

But overral it looks really good. Just a bit make me curious why binary is 2mb of size, but i realized it is with debug info compiled in, and not stripped. After i stip it, it start to be 350kb only.
