  This is an extension package for the base installation of AmiCygnix.
  Everyone, who wants to use AmiCygnix seriously, should install it.

New in 1.7:
-----------

  * All binaries are now linked with the revised version of the utilitiy library
    "libaos4util".

  * The browser "NetSurf" and the included "curl" command are now linked with
    the latest version 3.7.3 of the SSL/TLS layer GnuTLS. This fixes problems
    with certificates and SSL connections.

Included software:
------------------

  * ROX-Filer 2.10

    A comfortable file manager with support of multiple windows similar to
    Opus 5. Unfortunately the port is not finished yet, but is very useful to
    browse your files. The following viewer and player are integrated in
    ROX-Filer.

  * NetSurf 2.8

    A web browser with support of CSS2 and SSL. Javascript isn't supported yet,
    but a lot of pages can be displayed and the very good support of SSL is a
    big advantage.

  * Leafpad 0.8.18.1

    A simple text editor similar to "Notepad". Supports UTF-8 and other en-
    codings.

  * GPicView 0.2.5

    A simple picture viewer for the formats:

    - ani
    - bmp
    - gif / gif animation
    - icns
    - ico
    - ilbm
    - jpeg
    - pcx
    - png
    - pnm
    - psd
    - qtif
    - ras
    - svg
    - tiff
    - tga
    - wbmp
    - xbm
    - xcf
    - xpm

  * Xpdf 3.03

    A viewer for PDF files.

  * Gucharmap 1.10.1

    Displays the installed fonts and you can insert special chars into other
    programs with it.

  * LXAppearance 0.6.3

    A preference editor for the GUI toolkit GTK2. You can change the GTK2 theme,
    the main font and the icon theme. Can also install new icon themes.

  * ObConf 2.0.3

    A preference editor for the window manager "Openbox".

  * Gsetroot 1.1

    A tool to change the desktop background.

  * Imlib_Config 1.9.15

    A preference editor for the gfx library imlib 1.9.15. Programs, which depend
    on this library (e.g. Amaya), will be influenced by these settings.

  * mpg123 0.61

    A player for MP3 sound files.

  * ogg123 1.4.0

    A player and converter for Ogg-Vorbis sound files.

  * curl 7.61.1

    The download tool of the curl 7.61.1 package.

  * gnutls-cli, gnutls-cli-debug, gnutls-serv 3.7.3

    Client and server tools of the SSL/TLS layer GnuTLS 3.7.3

What is X11?
------------

  The X Window System is the base for the all graphical user interfaces on unix
  or Linux systems. No matter which GUI-toolkit is used, on the lowest level
  works X11.
  The system is splitted into a server and in a client part, which is typical
  for Unix like systems. The server is responsible for processing the graphics
  and handles the user events like mouse-moves or key-events. The client finally
  is an application (e.g. a paint-program or a text-editor), which is using this
  system for displaying his windows.

  What is the advantage to have this on an Amiga system? It makes it easier to
  port open source software to the Amiga, because the sources for the GUI part
  can be compiled without any (or at least very few) changes.

Installation
------------

  1. Doubleclick on the "Install" icon in the unpacked AmiCygnix package.
     Everything will be installed automatically. Please follow the
     instructions of the installer script.

     Please do not install by hand!!

  2. Afterwards you should reset your amiga.
