That seems to be a nice idea, leaving out those minor revision numbers to avoid messy duplications. Otherwise, thanks for telling. Gives a better understanding of those SObjs libraries.

In most cases I'm leaving out the minor revision numbers so they change less often. I'm setting the version_type in libtool to either qnx or sco. I don't want to use just .so because there can be API and ABI changes that break compatibility. However, for sdl_image (for SDL1), it's the final version so the .so name hasn't changed in years.

I see a lot of problems with having several of the same SObjs files but with different numbers, rather than just updating the chosen SObjs library to a new version. That way, you avoid creating a lot of mess with multiple, duplicated versions of the same library. That has always been the problem with those SObjs stuff. I hope to see a much tidier way to keep this SObjs stuff as clean and updated as possible, without all these duplications. Keep up the excellent work.

FWIW I just built libSDL_image-1.2.so (version 1.2.12) but when I try to display a png image with showimage command it fails:
11.fredriks-pc-Shared:> showimage protrekkr.png
Couldn't load protrekkr.png: Failed loading libpng.so.15: SDL_LoadObject() not implemented
Looks like libdl support is missing from our SDL lib...

There's an error in the archive which might lead to compiling errors when compiling clib2 stuff:
libSDL_image.a and libSDL_image.la are in Local/clib2/, while they should be under Local/clib2/lib .
