Thanks for the information. I read about it. Yes, porting the latest WebKit would help a lot for future Amiga browser development. Odyssey is not bad. Can still use it in most relative Amiga situations without problems. Runs lighting fast on X5000, of course. Thanks again.

Sites like YouTube and other Google heavy-influenced sites are very resource-hungry and tend to change often, getting more and more complex. OS4 browsers like Odyssey and TimberWolf need to get this Hardware Acceleration support in place, and a rather completely updated WebKit, in order to deal with those complex sites.

As an example, when running Facebook even with default Javascript turnt on, Facebook runs unbearable slow in Odyssey and eats up a lot of memory. It would be better if this Javascript thing was replaced by the long awaited PPC-JIT implementation people talk about. At least, something clearly has to be done to improve this. This is all I know, based on own experience. All other internet sites run fast and smooth without problem, even on an AmigaOne 500 aka SAM460ex.

Odyssey Web Browser needs a great update...again. That's the only solution, and it's a pretty obvious solution. It has to be done...Also hope to see this PPC JIT implementation that is so important...

For instance, at least in the fast mobile site version of Facebook, the Check-In-Place function doesn't work anymore. This is due to the outdated Javascript.

I hope the new, long-expected PPC JIT implementation for Odyssey is coming soon, and that Odyssey Web Browser can get a new update again. Like version 1.25 or 1.26. It's important to have a fully up-to-date browser on the Amiga, if we are to enjoy surfing
easily on the Amiga, and have access to all the stuffs the sites provide for us. This cannot be said enough. I understand and respect things take time, but the last updated version of Odyssey was back in 2013. We are now into 2018. So yes, 5 years have passed without a new version of Odyssey, and awaiting the PPC JIT implementation as well...I hope we all agree that these things are very important, and getting more and more important as every day passes...

It seems that Facebook has undergone a lot of changes and improvements, including a new multi-image uploader that doesn't work so well in Odyssey, unless you run the MOBILE version of Facebook.

I read rumours about port of a PPC JIT engine for Webkit-based browsers. Could such port to Odyssey help improve it? Do we need a whole new version of Odyssey to make use of more modern-updated sites like Facebook, with all of its' new features? Just asking...

Other than the issue with the updated Facebook, Odyssey works just fine for all other general use, AFAIK...

The YUV2 Composite video feature that the new MPlayer can use? I'm sure the HTML5 player intergrated in Odyssey Web Browser can be improved to allow such smooth playback. As well as improving overall performance, noticeable when visiting sites like that of YouTube, and the possibility to finally log into sites like Blogger.com and your YourTube account again. This was not possible as it still stands, due to some changes i believe Google/YouTube did.

Other than that, Odyssey runs quite fine in FE with latest version.

Odyssey can't no longer log into Blogger or YouTube. Only on TimberWolf.

Odyssey 1.24 for MorphOS is the version that AmigaOS4 would need to be fully up to 2014 level with browsing. I hope we will see version 1.24. Perhaps around summer or a little later, if possible?

Earlier, this was always possible. These 2 sites are syncronized with my Google+ account, sharing the same login. I appeared into Google+ with my account, but couldn't log into neither Blogger or YouTube, and i haven't changed anything in Odyssey since third version of 1.23 was released.

In Blogger.com, after typing in my Google+ account and log into Google+, it tries to log me into the blog site, but fails with an error message.

In YouTube, a weird error message says there is a problem with the browser in the way that YouTube thinks the browser is outdated, or simply doesn't recognize it.

What to do? Any suggestions? I have scripts like YouTube Center.js

Any help is good help.

Maybe you could add an extversion cookie with a release number, like
$EXTVER: Odyssey Web Browser 1.23r3 (05.05.2014)

and of course keep the normal version cookie
$VER: Odyssey Web Browser 1.23 (25.12.2013)
as it is.

And then (soon if not later) that release number could be read with Extversion from OpenAmiga.org. :)

Version is the same 1.23, all those "revisions" its only for os4. So i only update it and reupload there, and only name it as "r", just so ppls know its new version. But inside everything 1.23 as it should be.

It may worth to change in about, but then will need to change it everywhere (many parts) and to avoid any problems with users scripts/etc which done for morphos and can be used on os4, and which may check "1.23" exactly, i avoid to change versioning in the binary directly.

May i suggest the possibility of having AmiUpdate to update Odyssey in the future, and even installing that update if the user choose to, still remembering all settings, even bookmarks? It would be very cool if Odyssey in the future could be updated and installed from AmiUpdate as well :)

Latest Odyssey works perfectly here and it FLIES just like that! Thanks again! :)

However there are some issues. The readme is broken, it wants CodePad.

And that :Auncher is still there to confuse people. ;-)

But I wonder, how easy is it to transfer settings from MUI-OWB into Odyssey? I was afraid to replace OWB with it but would like to do so and keep all my settings. Import manager? :-)

I don't know if your problem of corrupted fonts is resolved.
I had a similar problem due to the presence of the fonts downloaded by owb.
If they are already in an another directory ( fonts:_truetype for me), delete them in the new directory. That resolved my problem.
With this, I only use one directory for my fonts.
I hope that this message will help you.
