But I can't
take the mono mode out of the modefile, since that requires an 68k gcc assembler
which I used to run on my A4000. Mono files are played through both channels
when a stereo mode is chosen if the panning is set to the middle.

Yes, my note
was probably off topic, but I hoped that Dave would read it.

I don't even used MONO modes, I'm just annoyed when I play test sound in mono
mode and audio goes FARRRTTTT. :)

However, I distantly recall that MONO mode problem has something todo with CMI,
but not sure about it anymore.

Isn't this the task of AHI to handle MONO/STEREO/MULTI-CHANNEL and not
the driver? Maybe Davy could change the AHI sources to play mono files
to both channels if mono is detected?

Thanks Dave!

But is there a way to make the mono modes work or disable them? Currently they
cause a similar, really terrible sound.

Sound gets very bad distortion with 48KHz.
